Phibela Industrial PLC’s electric car assembly plant in Debre-Berhan City, Amhara region, was officially inaugurated and began operations early this morning.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by several notable guests, including the chief administrator of the Amhara region, Mr. Arega Kebede, owner and CEO of Belayeh Kindie Group (BKG), Belayneh Kindie, and senior officials from the region.
Belayneh Kindie Group, which has already gained experience in assembling internationally recognized IVECO and Golden Bus cars at its factory in Gelan, has successfully assembled over 1,200 vehicles in the process.
Built at a reported cost of approximately 3 billion birr by Belayneh Kendie Group, the Phibela Industrial Debre-Berhan Car Assembly plant will specialize in assembling electric cars.
According to Mr. Setegn Engdaw, Communications Director of Belayneh Kendie Group, the electric cars assembly plant is expected to produce 1,000 vehicles annually.
Moreover, the plant is anticipated to generate job opportunities for 1,000 people.
