Mr. Ahmed Shide, Minister of Finance of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia met and discussed with Kim Byoung-hwan, first Vice Minister of Economy and Finance of the Republic of Korea.
During the discussion, Ahmed Shide highlighted the historic and deep-rooted relations between the Republic of Korea and Ethiopia.
Mr. Ahmed thanked the Republic of Korea for signing a $1 billion financial framework agreement with Ethiopia. He urged the Republic of Korea to increase its financial support because Ethiopia, a country with an estimated 120+ million people and a rapidly expanding economy, is also going under financial reform.
Kim Byoung-hwan, for his part, also vowed to further strengthen the two countries’ financial and economic relations, noting that his country is keen to provide Ethiopia with further financial assistance.
He further pledged to collaborate with Ethiopia to exchange knowledge and experience in the fields of economy and finance. In order to strengthen the two countries’ economic relationship, the Korean official also emphasized the significance of multilateral cooperation in addition to bilateral partnership.
