Wegagen Bank and Mpesa, a mobile banking platform offered by Safaricom Ethiopia, have joined forces to provide customers with convenient digital payment solutions. This partnership, approved by the National Bank of Ethiopia, aims to eliminate the need for cash transactions.
Goytom Gebretsadkan, Deputy Executive Representative of Wegagen Bank’s Technology Sector, signed the agreement, and Paul Kavavu, Head of Digital Financial Services at Safaricom Ethiopia.
According to Goytom, the partnership will empower Wegagen Bank customers to leverage Mpesa’s mobile banking services for payments. Mr. Kavavu echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the benefits for Mpesa users who bank with Wegagen Bank. He stated that the agreement would enhance the user experience by expanding digital payment options and offering greater efficiency.
