TeleTv, a newly launched entertainment platform, has contributed USD 25 million to the Ethiopian economy within its first four months of operation, according to Besufekad Getachew, Founder and CEO of Eaglelion.
During a press briefing, Besufekad shared that TeleTv, developed under Eaglelion’s system technology, offered various movies, TV series, shows, and exclusive interviews. With a user-friendly interface and personalized recommendations, the platform has attracted over 100,000 subscribers. Flexible payment options, designed to accommodate user convenience, have been a key feature in enhancing accessibility and addressing copyright issues faced by local content creators.
Looking to expand further, Besufekad announced plans to launch a television channel to bridge the gap between digital streaming and traditional TV. This move is expected to broaden the platform’s reach and promote Ethiopian cinema to a larger audience.
Prominent Ethiopian filmmaker Solomon Bogale, whose film is featured on TeleTv, praised the platform’s potential to elevate Ethiopian cinema internationally. He noted that TeleTv not only supported local filmmakers but also boosted the national economy by promoting Ethiopian culture and values.
TeleTv has aired notable titles such as Sidist Seat Kelelitu and Tizita, positioning itself as a significant player in Ethiopia’s entertainment industry.
