Mr. Adem Farah, Vice President of the Prosperity Party and Head of the Democracy Building Center Coordinator Office with the rank of Deputy Prime Minister, stated that Ethiopia will continue to strengthen its long-standing relations and cooperation with China in all domains.
The Ethiopian delegation headed by Mr. Adem Farah is currently participating in the “World Majority for Multipolar Order” forum, which is taking place in Vladivostok, Russia, from June 16 to 19, 2024.
On the sidelines of the forum, Mr. Adem Farah engaged in discussions with Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the Communist Party of China.
In their conversation, Mr. Adem highlighted China’s status as a robust economic partner in Ethiopia’s development, emphasizing that numerous Chinese companies are actively involved in various sectors within Ethiopia.
Mr. Adem also expressed his gratitude towards China for its consistent support throughout Ethiopia’s challenges. He further underscored that the political friendship between the two nations will continue to be strengthened.
He further extended his appreciation to the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the country’s government for their support in Ethiopia’s pursuit to become a member of the BRICS+ family, playing a vital role in the realm of diplomacy.
Ethiopia intends to deepen its strategic partnership with China to an even greater extent, Adem said, extending an invitation to the leadership of the Communist Party of China (CPC), including Liu Jianchao, to visit Ethiopia.
Liu Jianchao, in turn, conveyed his warm congratulations to Ethiopia for its recent membership in the BRICS+ family. He reaffirmed China’s commitment to strengthening its enduring relationship and cooperation with Ethiopia.
Notably, Liu Jianchao pointed out Ethiopia’s pivotal status as the hub of the African Union, emphasizing the country’s crucial role in facilitating China’s cooperation with other African nations.
In addition to enhancing the cooperation between the two nations, Liu Jianchao expressed China’s eagerness to fortify party-to-party relations through experience sharing, training programs, and capacity-building initiatives.
He also emphasized China’s dedication to intensifying bilateral relations in terms of trade and investment. Liu cited the Addis Ababa-Djibouti railway line, which was constructed with the collaboration of the Belt and Road Initiative, as an illustrative example of their joint endeavors.
Subsequently, Liu Jianchao extended an invitation to the Ethiopian delegation to participate in the China-Africa Forum, which is scheduled to take place in October 2024.
