The Lemi National Cement Factory, the largest in Ethiopia, has announced that it has commenced supplying its products to the local market since yesterday.
With a production capacity of 150,000 quintals per day, the factory aims to significantly reduce Ethiopia’s reliance on cement imports, thereby boosting the country’s construction and infrastructure sectors.
Completed in just two years, the facility employs advanced technology, including a non-human touch production system, which maximizes efficiency and minimizes energy use. One of its standout innovations is the world’s longest pre-heating tower, towering at 174 meters.
In a post published today on its social media page, the factory further disclosed that it has also established a modern and well-organized laboratory and assigned experts to ensure that its products meet the highest standards.
It is to be recalled that Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed inaugurated and commissioned the factory on September 28, 2024.
