French food processing company Delamotte Enterprise is eyeing the establishment of a dry food processing plant in Ethiopia.
Fisseha Yitageshu, CEO of the Ethiopian Industrial Parks Development Corporation (IPDC), highlighted that the company’s interest comes at a pivotal moment when Ethiopia has achieved wheat self-sufficiency and has begun exporting grain internationally. He noted that the nation has saved $750 million previously spent on wheat imports by increasing domestic production.
Sebastien Delamotte, the founder and owner of the enterprise, revealed plans for the factory, which will focus on sweet and dry food products, developed in partnership with Ethiopian Airlines. He emphasized that the factory will utilize locally sourced raw materials for its products and aims to enhance the technical skills of Ethiopian professionals through knowledge and technology transfer.
According to the Industrial Parks Corporation, the new manufacturing operations are set to commence at the Kilinto Industrial Park.
