Ethiopia’s BRICS National Ministerial Coordinating Committee Convenes Second Meeting

The Ethiopian BRICS National Ministerial Coordinating Committee held its second formal gathering today, according to the Foreign Affairs Ministry.

The purpose of this meeting is to evaluate Ethiopia’s participation in the BRICS alliance and chart a course for future endeavors.

The committee chairperson and Ethiopia’s designated BRICS representative, Mamo Esmelealem Mihiretu underscored the significance of Ethiopia’s active engagement in the BRICS initiatives for yielding economic and social benefits, accomplishing national development objectives, and bolstering multilateral diplomacy.

The committee also deliberated on Ethiopia’s BRICS participation strategy, which aims to facilitate the seamless integration of Ethiopia into the BRICS framework.

Additionally, the group reviewed the BRICS Group Memorandum of Understanding and Ethiopia’s supporting statement on the matter.

It was suggested that Ethiopia’s BRICS membership would serve to strengthen people-to-people relations, foster economic and social cooperation, drive technological advancement, and bolster bilateral ties.
