Ethiopian Railways Corporation Partners with COIPA Capital to Advance Infrastructure Projects

Ethiopian Railways Corporation (ERC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with COIPA Capital, a company known for identifying high-yield investment opportunities, to advance strategic railway and logistics projects.

The agreement, signed by ERC Deputy CEO Getu Gizaw and COIPA Capital CEO Vito Favorito Sciammarella, marks a step toward modernizing Ethiopia’s infrastructure. Speaking at the signing ceremony, Getu highlighted the partnership as a “strategic milestone” in creating world-class logistics and railway systems to drive economic growth.

The collaboration will focus on several critical initiatives, including port logistics projects, the construction of ERC’s Mixed-Use Commercial Headquarters, and the establishment of an infrastructure construction and consultancy unit. Getu emphasized that these projects reflect ERC’s commitment to fostering economic growth, enhancing regional integration, and ensuring sustainable development.

COIPA Capital CEO Vito Favorito Sciammarella expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, “This initiative will not only benefit Ethiopia but also strengthen connectivity across Central and East Africa.” He pledged to bring European expertise and financing solutions to support Ethiopia’s ambitious infrastructure goals.

Under the MoU, COIPA Capital will provide technical, financial, and advisory support, leveraging its experience in large-scale industrial projects to advance Ethiopia’s economic and logistical transformation.
