Ethiopian Airlines launched three times a week flights from its hub Addis Ababa Bole International Airport to Maun, a tourist destination in Botswana.
It is stated that the new route will provide convenient and seamless connectivity for travelers from Ethiopia and other parts of Africa to the popular tourist destination of Maun, which is the gateway to the Okavango Delta, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the world’s largest inland deltas.
Ethiopian Airlines Group CEO, Mr. Mesfin Tasew, Chief Commercial Officer of the airline, Mr. Lema Yadecha, and Botswana’s Ambassador to Ethiopia, Tebelelo Alfred Boang, among others, were present at the launch event.
On the occasion, Mr. Mesfin Tasew said, the airline is constantly expanding its international and continental destinations.
He stated that the airline is working hard to achieve its goal of connecting Africa and Africa. In that regard, Ethiopia is playing its role in the acceleration of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) by connecting Africa through air transport, the CEO stated.
Mesfin mentioned that the city of Maun has become Ethiopian Airlines’ 65th destination in Africa. Maun has also become Ethiopia’s second destination in Botswana after Gaborone, which has been served since 2016.
Ethiopian Airlines recently asserted that it managed to establish convenient intra- Africa and global connections via its main hub in Addis Ababa, playing its part in the growth of the aviation industry in Africa.
