The Head of the Tourism Bureau of the Amahra Regional State, Tahir Mohammed, announced that Ethiopian Airlines launched new domestic routes in connection with the forthcoming major festivals; Timket (Epiphany) and Genna holidays to be celebrated in the region with unique religious and traditional rituals.
Tahir exclusively told FBC that ample preparations have been made to create a festive and peaceful atmosphere for both local and foreign tourists who will attend the Genna (the Nativity of Jesus Christ) and Timket (the Baptism of Jesus Christ) holiday events to take place on January 7 and 20 respectively in several cities and towns of the region.
Tahir further stated that in connection with the forthcoming Timket and Genna festivals Ethiopian Airlines launched new domestic routes; from/to Gondar-Lalibela and from/to Bahir Dar–Lalibela to facilitate conducive travel services for local and international tourists to attend the events.
The Bureau Head explained that ‘Gena’ or the Feast of the Nativity of Jesus Christ will be uniquely marked in the historical town of Lalibela as Timket or the Baptism of Jesus Christ is going to be observed in the historical city of Gondar and Minjar Shenkora district this month.
