The UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator in Ethiopia Dr. Ramiz Alakbarov has lauded the impressive Ethiopian industrial parks for creating thousands of job opportunities for citizens.
Dr. Ramiz Alakbarov’s comments emerged after he visited Adama Industrial Park together with Mr. Aklilu Taddese, CEO of the Industrial Parks Development Corporation of Ethiopia (IPDC) on Thursday (February 22).
During the visit, Mr. Aklilu told the UN resident coordinator that 17 manufacturing sheds in Adama Industrial Park are fully occupied by local and foreign investors, creating over 7,000 job opportunities in the process. Yet, the industrial park has reserved space for potential investors who wish to enter the park in the future, he indicated.
Following his visit to the industrial park, the UN representative disclosed that he witnessed firsthand the impressive park providing thousands of jobs and toured a factory producing high-quality garments and a paint production facility.
He further disclosed that the Industrial Park is an environmentally friendly park with zero wastewater and/or high environmental protection.
According to him, industrial parks can foster inclusive and sustainable industrial development that will accelerate economic growth and create more jobs in the country.
Ramiz Alakbarov reiterated that the UN Country Team in Ethiopia is a partner in the effort.
