
The Ethiopian Businesswomen Association held its inaugural general assembly, progressing in its mission to empower and support women entrepreneurs and business professionals across the country.
The event was attended by prominent businesswomen, government officials, and industry leaders, including the State Minister of Trade and Regional Integration, Abdulhakim Mulu (PhD). During his address, the State Minister highlighted the importance of the association in advocating for women’s interests in the business sector, expanding economic opportunities, and addressing systemic and structural challenges faced by women entrepreneurs.
A key agenda item of the assembly was the election of the association’s executive committee. Ms. Bereket Worku, widely known as Bereket Geberewa (Bereket the farmer), was elected as president from a pool of 12 candidates. .
The general assembly also approved the association’s bylaws, laying the foundation for its operations and governance. The Ethiopian Businesswomen Association aims to serve as a driving force for women’s economic empowerment, fostering growth and innovation within Ethiopia’s business landscape.
