In a parallel milestone, nine Ethiopian institutions signed a landmark Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) to initiate the Airport and Border Management Transformation Program. This initiative aims to modernize Ethiopia’s airport and border management through advanced technology, improved data sharing, and heightened security measures. The agreement involves collaboration between the Information Network Security Administration (INSA), National Intelligence and Security Service (NISS), Ethiopian Federal Police Commission, Immigration and Citizenship Service (ICS), Customs Commission, Ministry of Transport and Logistics, Ethiopian Airlines Group, Ethiopian Civil Aviation Authority, and Ethiopian Artificial Intelligence Institute
The signing ceremony, attended by senior officials such as Transport and Logistics State Minister Bareo Hussien and Ethiopian Airlines CEO Mesfin Tasew, underscored a shared commitment to improving the nation’s entry and exit processes. The program is expected to enhance traveler security, streamline border management, and support Ethiopian Airlines’ reputation as a world-class carrier.
