Ethiopian Airlines, Airbus sign seven-year flight hour services contract

Ethiopian Airlines and Airbus have signed a seven-year Flight Hour Services (FHS) agreement to provide comprehensive maintenance support for the airline’s 24 Airbus A350 aircraft, including both A350-900 and A350-1000 models.

The contract will ensure Ethiopian Airlines will get the dedicated on-site stock at its Addis Ababa hub, global access to Airbus material pools, and engineering and repair support for critical rotatable parts, according to a report by MRO Business Today.

The partnership aims to enhance component availability, speed up part replacements, and streamline maintenance processes, which will help reduce aircraft downtime and improve operational efficiency across Ethiopian Airlines’ global network.

Ethiopian Airlines, the first African carrier to operate the A350 Family, sees this agreement as key to maintaining high standards of performance and reliability for its fleet.

The airline’s COO Retta Melaku emphasized the importance of the agreement in optimizing operations and minimizing maintenance delays. “As the first African operator of the A350 Family, we are committed to maintaining the highest standards of performance and reliability across our fleet. Partnering long-term with Airbus through this FHS agreement will help us optimise operations, reduce maintenance-related delays, and ensure our passengers continue to experience the best in safety, comfort, and service.”

Laurent Negre, Vice President of Customer Services for Airbus Africa and Middle East, said: “This partnership reinforces Airbus’ commitment to delivering tailor-made maintenance solutions that support airlines in achieving the highest levels of operational efficiency. We are proud to support Ethiopian Airlines with our Flight Hour Services solution to enhance fleet reliability and streamline maintenance operations for its A350s.”
