Ethiopia, World Bank Sign 60 million USD Grant Agreement   

Ministry of Finance and World Bank signed a grant agreement amounting a 60 million USD to support the implementation of Innovative Systems to Promote Integrated, Resilient, and Enhanced Responses to Women and Girls’ Health (INSPIRER) project.

INSPIRER aligns with Ethiopia’s Health Sector Development Investment Plan (HSDIP) prioritizing in strengthening health systems through climate resilience, digital solutions, and equity interventions to improve women’s and girls’ health outcomes.

The project targets Vulnerable Populations in climate-stressed and conflict-affected areas.

Accordingly, the project will directly benefit 15 million women and girls in drought-prone regions such as Afar, Somali, and Gambella, while strengthening health systems nationwide.

The agreement was signed virtually on February 23, 2025, by Ahmed Shide, Minister of Finance representing the Government of Ethiopia, and Maryam Salim, Division Director for Ethiopia, Eritrea, Sudan, and South Sudan at the World Bank.
