Ethiopia Signs PPP Agreements to Boost Housing, Tourism, and Health Sectors

The Ministry of Finance signed public-private partnership (PPP) agreements with seven private developers to launch new projects in affordable housing, tourism, and healthcare.

The agreements include four affordable housing projects by Ice Home Development and Construction PLC, Ovid Chaka Housing Development PLC, Ovid Kings Tower Housing Development PLC, and the Ethiopian Construction Works Corporation. In addition, Denbi Lake PLC (MIDROC Ethiopia Group) and Awash Falls Resort PLC (Boston Partners) will develop tourism destinations, while a consortium comprising Cerbalancet, ICL, and Pioneer will establish an integrated diagnostic health center.

Once operational, the projects are expected to contribute significantly to Ethiopia’s economic and social growth.

Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, addressing the House of Peoples’ Representatives, highlighted the importance of PPPs in tackling housing shortages, noting that around one million homes have been built over the past five years, with over 265,000 more under construction.
