Ethiopia: Sidama Region Achieves 96% of Annual Coffee Supply Target in 11 Months

The Sidama Regional State has supplied 38,487 tons of coffee to Ethiopia’s central market during the first 11 months of the 2024/25 Ethiopian fiscal year, achieving 96% of its annual supply target.

According to Ato Mesfin Kare, Director General of the Regional Coffee, Fruit and Spices Authority, the region had planned to supply 40,128 tons of coffee for the year. He highlighted that extensive work had been done to enhance coffee quality, beginning with the preparation and distribution of high-quality seedlings. These efforts have contributed not only to increased output but also to improved grading.

Out of the 32,363 tons of coffee from the region that received market feedback, over 99% were rated between Grade 1 and Grade 3.

With just one month remaining in the fiscal year, regional authorities remain confident in meeting the full supply target.
