Ethiopia, Russia Agree to Strengthen Investment Cooperation

Ethiopia and Russia have agreed to further enhance investment in multiple areas.

Ethiopian Investment Commissioner Zeleke Temesgen had discussion with a high-level Russian delegation led by Economic Development Minister Maxim Reshetnikov in Addis Ababa.

The commissioner briefed the delegation on the reforms undertaken by the government to empower the private sector, create favorable investment environment and the overall endeavors made to expand investment.

He also pointed out the commitment of the government of Ethiopia to enhance the longstanding and multifaceted relations between the countries in the economic sphere.

On his part, Economic Development Minister Reshetnikov expressed Russia’s desire to enhance ties in economic and private sector investment.

Ethiopia and Russia have agreed to cooperate in areas, including mineral resource development, fertilizer production, renewable electricity generation and distribution, information and technology sectors as well as the modernization of special economic zones, among others.

The two countries are also expected to jointly hold investment and business forums with the target to jointly identify investment and project areas, it was learned.
