Ethiopia ready to expand variety of exports to Azerbaijan – MoTRI

The Ministry of Trade and Regional Integration of Ethiopia (MoTRI) announced that the country is committed to increasing and expanding the variety of the products it exports to Azerbaijan.

Economic cooperation between the two countries was discussed during a meeting between the Minister of MoTRI, Mr. Kasahun Gofe, and a delegation led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Yalchin Rafiyev. On the occasion, the two dignitaries had a fruitful discussion which opened a new chapter in the economic cooperation between the two countries and explored potential cooperation avenues.

The ministry told Fana Media Corporation that products that Ethiopia exports to Azerbaijan include among others sesame, coffee, flax, mutton, and chevon.

Likewise, Ethiopia also imports semi-finished steel and sheet metal, centrifuge components, and protective equipment for electric circuits from Azerbaijan, it was indicated.

During the course of the discussion, Mr. Kasahun assured the delegation that Ethiopia is committed to increasing and expanding the variety of products it exports to Azerbaijan.

He said that we have agreed to improve the trade between the two countries by strengthening private sector relations, cooperation in technology and training, and promoting products that we can trade.

They have also reached a consensus on strategies to explore more opportunities to increase the two countries’ economic and trade relations, said the Minister.

They further expressed their agreement to develop long-term economic partnerships by entering into detailed agreements.
