
A new oil factory, built at a cost of Birr 150 million, has been officially inaugurated in Assosa town, Benishangul Gumuz region. The factory is expected to enhance local oil production and reduce dependency on external supplies.
During the inauguration ceremony, Benishangul Gumuz Regional Governor Ashadli Hassan highlighted the region’s abundant production of raw materials used in oil manufacturing. He emphasized that local agricultural output can support similar industries, contributing to the region’s economic growth.
The Benishangul Gumuz Regional Communications Bureau stated that the factory would play a vital role in meeting the community’s demand for edible oil. The bureau also assured that the regional administration will continue to support potential investors interested in the sector.
Oromia Regional State Governor Shimelis Abdisa, who attended the event, underscored the need to strengthen and enhance support for the region’s industrial potential. He noted that the establishment of more factories would enable Benishangul Gumuz’s mineral and agricultural resources to be processed locally, benefiting both the region and the country.
The inauguration of the oil factory is seen as a step toward industrial expansion in Benishangul Gumuz.
