
Ethiopia and Kenya has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to facilitate smooth flow of trade between the two countries.
The agreement was signed at the closing of the Ethiopia-Kenya border trade negotiations which commenced yesterday, 16th April 2025 in Mombasa, Kenya.
“Today we signed an implementation of agreement with the Cabinet Secretary for Investments, Trade, and Industry of Kenya [Lee Kinyanjui]. The agreement was signed in a manner that will facilitate trade relations between the two countries and will allow people living in the border area to access basic daily commodities without any supply disruptions,” Ethiopia’s Minister of Trade and Regional Integration Mr. Kasahun Gofe said in a social media post after inking the agreement.
Mr. Kassa and his high-level delegation traveled to Mombasa and participated in the 3rd round of negotiations on the Simplified Trade Regime (STR) between Ethiopia and Kenya.

The delegation was warmly received by Lee Kinyanjui, Cabinet Secretary for Investments, Trade, and Industry of the Republic of Kenya.
This important round of negotiations is said to be another step toward strengthening trade and economic integration between the two neighboring nations.
