Ethiopia raked in over USD 180.45 million from exporting 40,532 tons of coffee in July this year, marking a substantial increase of 132% in volume and 110% in revenue compared to the same period the previous year.
Ethiopian Coffee and Tea Authority’s Director General, Dr. Adugna Debala, expressed optimism about the industry’s potential, suggesting that sustained growth could significantly boost the national economy.
Ethiopia exported a total of 298,500 metric tons of coffee during the 2023/2024 fiscal year, representing a 20% increase compared to the previous year. This achievement generated USD 1.43 billion in revenue for the country.
Ethiopia’s coffee is world-renowned for its exceptional taste and variety. With flavors ranging from wine-like to fruity and chocolatey, it’s the country’s top export. Ethiopia ships its coffee to over 50 countries.
