Ethiopia is making the necessary preparations ahead of its participation in the 6th China International Import Expo (CIIE) which will be held in Shanghai from November 5 to 10, the Ministry of Trade & Regional Integration (MoTRI) disclosed.
According to the Ministry, the Expo will enable Ethiopia to increase its exports to the vast Chinese market by expanding new destinations and strengthening existing ones.
Mr. Amakele Yimam, Head of the Export Trade Promotion Desk at the Ministry, stated that exporters of oilseeds, pulses, and coffee who have achieved excellent export performance heretofore and have better export capacity in the current fiscal year will participate in the expo.
At CIIE, Ethiopian exporters are expected to sign sales contracts by actively conducting Business-to-Business (B2B) engagements and contacting new buyers, Amakele said. This will contribute greatly to the success of the 2023/24 fiscal year export trade plan, the official noted.
The 6th China International Trade Expo (CIIE), which brings together participants from more than 154 countries, including Ethiopia, is where climate change, artificial intelligence, and other advanced technologies and consumer products are widely introduced. The event is said to play an important role in facilitating high-quality Belt and Road Initiative cooperation.
