The Ethiopian Embassy in Beijing, in cooperation with the Ethio-China Friendship and Cooperation Committee, co-hosted a forum entitled “Light Up Villages Program” at the Ethio-China Business Forum earlier today.
The forum aims to promote investment and trade opportunities in Ethiopia for Chinese investors.
Ethiopia’s Ambassador to China, Tefera Derbew, delivered a keynote speech to the guests. In his speech, Ambassador Tefera narrated the investment opportunities in Ethiopia.
He mentioned that Ethiopia and China are enjoying warm relations and cordial friendship guided by the principles of equality, mutual respect, trust, and win-win engagement. According to Tefera Ethiopia is determined to be a model of success for the China-Africa Cooperation by providing concrete win-win results.
He also stated that Ethiopia is suitable for producing some of the world’s most-demanded crops, such as cereals, pulses, oilseeds, a wide range of fruits and vegetables, coffee, and cotton, among others.
Concluding his remarks, Ambassador Tefera invited all Chinese investors to go on a free investment visit to Ethiopia to join hands and contribute their part in boosting economic relations between the two countries.
The forum was attended by more than 120 people, including Mme. Betty Xu, Chairperson of the Ethio-China Friendship and Cooperation Committee, Mr. Zhang Dianhu, Deputy Mayor of Rizhao, as well as other guests invited to the forum.
