Ethio telecom has launched a cutting-edge ultra-fast EV charging station along the Bole to Megenagna road in Addis Ababa. According to the company, the initiative is aimed at supporting Ethiopia’s expanding electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem.
With EV adoption rising across the country, the new station is designed to meet the growing demand for fast, efficient, and smart charging. It features three charging modalities and can power up to 32 vehicles simultaneously, providing maximum convenience for drivers. The chargers use Artificial Intelligence (AI) to optimize speed and power delivery, capable of replenishing batteries at rates equivalent to traveling 1 kilometer per second, depending on vehicle specifications.
Operating 24/7, the station is fully integrated with telebirr SuperApp, Ethio telecom’s digital payment platform, allowing drivers to manage payments and monitor charging in real time through seamless fiber, 4G, or 5G networks.
