The Ethiopian Construction Works Corporation (ECWC) is set to launch electric vehicle (EV) maintenance services in Addis Ababa. The corporation announced that its new maintenance workshop, located in the Kality area of the capital, will be the first in Ethiopia to offer specialized services for electric vehicles.
ECWC CEO Yonas Ayalew emphasized that the primary goal was to address the existing shortage of EV maintenance services in Ethiopia, while also training professionals to meet growing demand. The corporation received partnership proposals from companies in Qatar, China, and other Asian countries to collaborate on EV maintenance in Addis Ababa. The corporation plans to expand these services by manufacturing EV chargers locally and eventually assembling electric vehicles.
In addition to its focus on electric vehicles, ECWC is currently managing 70 projects nationwide, valued at Birr 50 billion, and working with local companies, including cement factories and the Federal Housing Corporation. It plans to increase the corporation’s annual profit from Birr 1.4 billion to 10 billion and boost revenue from Birr 11.8 billion to 100 billion within the next five years.
