Ethiopia’s coffee export sector continues to deliver results, with the Ethiopian Coffee and Tea Authority announcing that the country earned over USD 674 million from coffee exports in the first four months of the current fiscal year.
Sahlemariam Gebremedihin, Communications Affairs Director at the Authority, highlighted that 150,346 tons of coffee were exported to international markets during this period. This performance exceeded the Authority’s planned target of 98,999 tons, achieving 152% of the export volume goal.
In financial terms, the Authority achieved 127% of its revenue target. Compared to the same period in the previous fiscal year, the country recorded a 51% increase in both export volume and revenue, representing an additional 62,587 tons of coffee and a revenue increase of USD 226.89 million.
October alone saw the export of 35,171 tons of coffee, generating USD 155.53 million in revenue. This marks a notable improvement from October of the previous fiscal year, with an increase of 17,492 tons in export volume and USD 61.91 million in revenue.
Germany, Saudi Arabia, and Belgium emerged as the top destination countries, leading in both export volume and revenue contributions.
