Ethiopia Earns USD 1.5 Billion from Exports

Ethiopia earned more than USD 1.5 billion from exports in the first three months of the current fiscal year, according to the Ministry of Trade and Regional Integration. Kassahun Gofe, Minister of Trade and Regional Integration, shared insights from a review of the export performance conducted with industry exporters.

Kassahun highlighted that this achievement marked a significant improvement in production and foreign exchange growth compared to the same period in the previous year. The exports reached 132 percent of the planned target, reflecting an increase of over USD 700 million compared to the first quarter of the 2023/24 fiscal year.

The Minister emphasized the importance of collaboration among stakeholders in the sector, noting that a mutual understanding was established with exporters to enhance foreign exchange earnings for the economy. He expressed optimism about improving the implementation of export strategies in the remaining months of the year to sustain this positive trend.
