Ethiopian Customs Commission announced that it collected Birr 203.75 billion in revenue during the first six months of the fiscal year, surpassing its target.
The commission had initially planned to collect Birr 190.9 billion within the period. However, actual revenue exceeded expectations, reaching 106 percent of the target.
Commissioner Debele Kabeta explained that revenue was generated from customs duties, excise taxes, value-added taxes, and other tax and non-tax sources. Additionally, the commission reported saving over Birr 107.24 billion through measures taken to curb smuggling and trade fraud.
