The Ethiopian Embassy in Islamabad announced the second Ethio-Pakistan Business Forum, scheduled for late May in Ethiopia. This forum builds on the success of previous editions, aiming to deepen economic ties between the two nations.
The Embassy collaborated with Pakistan’s Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) to recently hold business dialogues. These discussions aimed to strengthen economic ties and pave the way for a second visit by Pakistan’s Business and Trade Delegation to Ethiopia, scheduled for May 26th to 31st.
The delegation will explore investment and infrastructure opportunities in Ethiopia. Discussions at the ICCI headquarters, involving Ethiopian Ambassador Jemal Beker and ICCI President Ahsan Zafar Bakhtawari, focused on preparations for the visit. A diverse group of business leaders from various sectors participated, to encourage investment in Ethiopia.
Ambassador Jemal highlighted Ethiopia’s ongoing economic reforms in sectors like agriculture, manufacturing, mining, tourism, and ICT. He outlined a comprehensive agenda for the delegation, including business forums, visits to industrial parks, high-level meetings, and cultural exchanges, primarily centered in Addis Ababa.
Emphasizing the potential for economic cooperation, Ambassador Jemal confirmed the Ethiopian government’s commitment to hosting exclusive forums and discussions. ICCI President Bakhtawari echoed this sentiment, urging Pakistani businesses to explore opportunities in Ethiopia. He praised Ethiopia’s welcoming environment and strategic business climate, further highlighting the crucial role of Ethiopian Airlines’ operations in Karachi as a bridge between the two regions.
