Ethio telecom disclosed that it is carrying out activities to expand mobile telephone networks across all rural parts of Ethiopia by utilizing renewable energy as alternative mechanism.
Ethio-telecom has today inaugurated rural mobile telephone network projects in Somali and Central Ethiopia regions.
Network Infrastructure Deputy Chief Officer, Alem Haile-Mariam said the Rural Mobile Network Solution Service will enable all citizens in remote rural parts of the country, with low road infrastructures and difficult landscapes easily connect to mobile networks.
Additionally, the project installs mobile networks powered by solar energy in locations without access to electric power, he added.
According to the Deputy Chief Officer, the Rural Mobile Network Solution Service has so far reached over 900,000 people in 305 rural Kebeles across the country.
He added that the implementation of the project will be expanded across all rural parts of Ethiopia by utilizing renewable energy as alternative mechanism, as reported by ENA.
