Ethiopia’s Coffee and Tea Authority (ECTA) has announced a record-breaking 1.43 billion USD annual revenue from the export of coffee products in the 2023/24 fiscal year. This marks the first time Ethiopia has achieved such high revenue from coffee exports.
According to Mr. Sahle-Mariam Gebre-Medihn, the Head of the Public Relations and Communications Department at ECTA, the authority is actively pursuing initiatives aimed at boosting the income generated from coffee exports.
These efforts include enhancing the quality of coffee production, streamlining the marketing chain, and maximizing foreign currency earnings, as explained by the official during an interview with FBC.
In the most recent fiscal year of Ethiopia, a significant 299,000 tons of coffee were exported to various countries, resulting in a substantial income of 1.43 billion USD. The leading destinations for Ethiopia’s coffee exports include Saudi Arabia, America, Germany, Belgium, and South Korea.
