The Documents Authentication and Registration Service (DARS) announced that it processed 443,147 cases and served 719,073 users from July to December 23, 2024, generating Birr 1.25 billion in revenue.
DARS’ Public Relations and Communications Executive Ato Alemeshet Meshesha highlighted the institution’s efforts to ensure documents comply with legal and ethical standards. He emphasized that the revenue collected has significantly contributed to the government’s resources.
Ato Alemeshet also detailed ongoing reforms aimed at enhancing efficiency and security. These include introducing security features and electronic seals to prevent document duplication and establishing internet connections with regional offices and other stakeholders. The system aims to curb the use of counterfeit documents and streamline case handling across institutions, saving users time, energy, and resources.
Additionally, a pilot project enabling users to book appointments before visiting the service facility is underway. Electronic payment systems have also been introduced, ensuring seamless service delivery aligned with established standards.
The service has further expanded its role by supporting the National Digital Identity Registration, enrolling over 44,000 citizens in its Addis Ababa branches during the fiscal year. Effective November 10, 2024, all service seekers are required to have a digital ID to access the facility’s services.
