The Ethiopian Coffee and Tea Authority has revealed that a substantial 210,000 tons of coffee was exported to foreign markets within the last 10 months, generating 1 billion US dollars in revenue.
Director General of the Authority, Adugna Debela, stated that Ethiopia’s export coffee production has been steadily increasing each year. Testament to this, in the current Ethiopian fiscal year, 210,000 tons of coffee were exported, resulting in 1 billion USD in revenue.
This figure represents a significant increase compared to the same period last year, as stated by the Director General. Ethiopia exports coffee to approximately 50 to 60 countries, with the US, Japan, Belgium, Germany, and Saudi Arabia being the top importers and consumers of Ethiopia’s coffee.
Efforts are underway to expand the destination countries for Ethiopian coffee, and modern procedures have been implemented to combat illicit activities and enhance foreign trade performance, according to the Director General.
