China Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC), China’s construction and engineering giant, expressed its keen desire to build a potash fertilizer factory in Ethiopia.
The corporation’s desire was disclosed during a candid discussion between Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ethiopia to China, Teferra Derbew, and the executives of the corporation today at the Embassy in Beijing.
With its enormous potential in the sector, the corporation’s plan to build a soil fertilizer plant in Ethiopia will alleviate the constraints of soil fertilizers in Ethiopia, it was indicated.
During the meeting, the ambassador told the corporation’s leadership that their company’s investment would not only help the efforts to overcome the bottlenecks in Ethiopia’s agricultural sector but also contribute significantly to the country’s efforts to ensure food self-sufficiency.
The ambassador assured the CMEC’s executives of his embassy’s commitment to providing the necessary support for the corporation to launch its venture swiftly in his country.
